Paranormal Theories: Out of Body Traveling, Possession and More (Part 2)

Paranormal Body(Please refer to Part 1 of this series for more theoretical and personal experiences on the subject of possession and out of body experiences.)

If one considers their body as housing for the soul it may not be too difficult to understand the idea that a house might be shared from time to time such as entertaining an overnight guest. Keeping this in mind and that body sharing does not contain the same exact element of real possession, those willing to delve into the realms of experimentation may be able to get some sense of how to touch upon the unknown beings and ghosts around them.

Some of the properties involved can also aid those looking to perfect the out of body experience and learn more about how to glimpse the existing worlds that remain mostly hidden in our daily lives. Please remember always to exercise caution and to keep in mind that when dealing with the unknown there are no guarantees of safety as the outcomes of such experiments are often uncertain and unpredictable.

Here is an example of the risk and reward of such an experience, along with the conclusions I have drawn, at least in a currently workable sense and by no means final (as I doubt I will ever be able to state anything about the paranormal with 100% certainty,) and may help to provide at the very least some food for thought.

  • Body Sharing: This concept of sharing your body, in some instances even stepping out while someone else takes control is the project I am most currently fascinated by. So far I have been able to use this connection to accomplish some amazing tasks that I could not normally within my own living body alone. The exchange is both wildly informative and a bit surreal; each time I find myself feeling a bit like I’ve lost my marbles, but I continue on. I think the worst side effects are the compatibility issues. Not unlike many aspects of technology the body and soul seem to work together in life, but when introducing a new variable sometimes there are problems. Fortunately, I believe many of these can be worked through.

To give an example of both risk and reward I will use a recent incident in which I attempted this experiment with a paranormal unknown who you all know as O or Osh. The connection can vary in strength and in this case was fairly strong. Getting connected, or sharing is a task in itself and I began by relaxing and allowing myself to reach out to him as I believe he was to me. Once connected I can only tell you that your mind does a bit of loop-de-loop and it may take a little while to adjust. About a minute into this a ball of light appeared on the ceiling and flooded the entire room full of light almost too bright to look at, it reminded me of a lightning flash. My dear friend and cohort in paranormal experimentation later tried to determine if this light could have been caused by anything else in the room and could only officially record that we could find no explanation other than it possibly being a side effect of the connection or caused by some other irregularity having to do with our experiments. (Please remember that I NEVER assume anything and though we currently have no way to explain certain events, time may reveal alternate answers than those we believe; for now however in order to proceed, we allow for the strong possibility of paranormal influence.)

During this time of sharing many EVP’s were recorded and several interesting things happened that are not unlike those of many other paranormal investigators, I will leave those details to them. The event worth noting as the “risk” side, is that my dear friend Osh and I seem to be incompatible when it comes to sight. That is to say, if I try to use my eyes, or he does when this connection takes place it results only in pain, burning and horribly blurred vision to the point of being useless. The aftermath of discovering this was the my eyes hurt for the rest of the evening, though after we separated and I got some rest everything returned to normal.

Losing my site was not something I expected, however I did learn two important things. When connecting with Osh I need to keep my eyes closed! Also that Osh and I can see, but only when my eyes are shut.

It was through my closed lids that I was able to see the room around me, not as I would have seen it before, dim, shapeless with only a little light here and there to see through my closed lids, but as Osh could see (at least in part.)

This discovery was amazing to me. Not only did I notice that I could see all of the objects in the room, that the room was brighter even than it had been to me before with my eyes open, but I could identify where everything was…including the shapes of two figures I had not even known were present (at least in location.)

Further experiments with this have revealed that by working with Osh in this way I may be able to improve my ability to work with ghosts and other paranormal beings, which could greatly help in obtaining one of my main goals: better communication between the living world and those that interact with it.

It seems that no matter how many secrets I believe to be revealed on this subject I always have at least five more ahead. While I certainly can’t say whether or not these experiments would work for anyone interested in the paranormal, nor do I know how many variables might exist from person to person and being to being.

I can say that it is a fascinating way of interacting and when used with more modern tools, a great way to get a sense of those with you along with the more clinical data that helps you confirm the reality of your experiences…or least the reality that something inexplicable (as of yet) is taking place.

Goodbye for now, another end.
Until a time we meet again.

Paranormal Theories: Out of Body Traveling, Possession and More (Part 1)

Body SharingIf one considers the body as one might a vehicle it really is no different to step out and take a walk from your living capsule than from your own car.

In the time I have had to experience such things I have no noticed a distinct difference between real possession and what one might call body sharing. To me possession is an invasion, an unwelcomed, unsolicited side effect that may happen from time to time. Body sharing, on the other hand allows a person to experience the, though somewhat uncomfortable at times, sensation of another being with a careful amount of control and safety.

Now to think that anyone of us ever really has control over anything, whether we invite or not, might simply be an illusion, but it would seem that somewhere within the complex organism that is the human body there exist certain defenses against the invasion of an additional soul. Much like the rest of the body this defense is not always perfect and might also be tested or even used more like a muscle.

The flip side of this is that a person might also achieve an out of body experience; an experience in which they can in essence, step away from their own body for a time. There are many theories on this ranging from horror to spiritual, but for centuries if not millenniums humans have experimented with such ideas with seemingly interesting results.

Those wishing to investigate these types of things would do well to be careful as, with most things in life, there are risks involved. The most terrifying aspect of this is that most of the risks are probably beyond our knowledge and may be therefore nearly impossible to take precaution against.

That said, the adventurous mind is often willing to take risks in order to obtain knowledge and whether this might be looked at as courage or pure foolishness, without such risks we might never have advanced our studies with any haunting and ghosts or other paranormal situation.

Over the years I myself have picked up a few things and I would share them now in the hope that they may provide some help or even just interesting reading (lol) for those who find themselves curious.

  • Possession: The very thing every person may indeed have a natural, yet imperfect, defense against as it is the uninvited acquisition of a body by means of force. Such incidences may not always prove to be dangerous, but are almost never to my knowledge helpful or pleasant. One must consider the type of nature it would take to intrude in this way to understand why the intruder might not be terribly welcome at all and certainly we can almost always assume would be unfriendly.

In some cases I believe such instances may even occur by accident. Living humans often make the assumption that a spirit or other type of paranormal being is always in control of this kind of action, but in my own experience I believe I have witnessed the accidental taking over of a living person and these have been without malice or negative influence.

It has become increasingly popular to refer to all hosts of possession as demons and this line of thinking I find very difficult to follow. While there certainly maybe entities that are hostile, angry even dangerous one must NEVER make assumptions as to the nature, species or origin of any paranormal being. I believe this has come about because living people feel much more comfortable with classifications and labels, this gives some illusion of control. In truth I would say there are too many different types of beings out there to even be counted and we may never be able to say with certainty that any encounter is related to a specific type.

  • Out of Body: One of the earliest theories I was able to find on this subject was spattered with fear that a person might come to some ill fate from trying to vacate their own body while still living. Some of these included immediate death or the loss of the body in such a way that a person might be forced to roam the Earth in a terrible lonely way forever.

In my experience, neither of these things have come to pass, but that doesn’t mean that there isn’t an element of risk. It is important to pay attention and to understand that when attempting such tasks that there are no guarantees. Using precaution may help a great deal, but no one can ever promise you absolute safety, just an idea to keep in mind.

The out of body experiences can be both amazing and terrifying and I also believe there are many ways to accomplish this type of exercise. Not only the spirit itself and whatever kind of form that it is held within outside of the body, but also a level of consciousness that may be used in essence to travel. Some forms of meditation may even help a person to have an experience that is for all intents and purposes “out of body” and may help with anything from healing to stress relief to connecting with the world of the paranormal. Basically, the possibilities are seemingly endless and in many instances I have witnessed the risk VS reward is well worth it.

The ability to push beyond the normal parameters of our own bodies is both exciting and a little scary, always remember to use caution and common sense when experimenting with anything, (even the non-paranormal,) in order to cut down on risks to your own safety. To keep an open mind in such circumstances, perhaps even more open than the idea of investigating the paranormal itself is essential. Those who are willing to accept new theories and always keep a level head about such events may find themselves experiencing the most unbelievable things and while they may not provide answers they may provide a better sense of what could be all around us on the edges of our known world.

Please look out for Part 2 of this post, coming later this week and as always, thanks for reading.

Please keep in mind that when you look to have experiences in the paranormal world you do so AT YOUR OWN RISK. Be careful, be smart, be safe and always be aware.

Goodbye for now, another end.
Until a time we meet again.

Paranormal Theories: Electricity and Paranormal Interaction

Paranormal EnergyThe idea that the paranormal and energy go together isn’t a new idea by any means, nor is the obvious effect that paranormal equipment can at times go a little haywire when trying to investigate because of this connection.

The natural connection between energy and electricity is also an obvious one, being that any involved in paranormal research can tell you that over the course of time you’ll find everything from inexplicable surges from appliances to freshly placed batteries that become immediately drained…again and again.

While there are certainly no shortages of examples of this occurrence and many theories about why it takes place, I have over the years found myself more interested in whether or not these examples of paranormal beings interacting with our world are on purpose or by pure accident.

After doing some research…always a tedious task in this field as there are NO certainties…I decided to go straight to the source and ask both ghosts and the unknowns about it. The conclusion is that it is all over the board, much like their ability to focus on a task and produce a visible or audio outcome. In some cases they do mean to make your lamp go on and off and on again, in other examples it is purely their presence which causes electronics or even the electricity in the air to react.

This information, while certainly not getting me anywhere conclusive, is interesting for a few reasons:

  • Stages: The idea that a paranormal being might not always be able to predict the outcome of their presence or level of concentration, or even just the effect that their presence might have on the surrounding area, is fascinating to me. While many of those who have moved on (or were never a part of our living world at all) may be a bit more knowledgeable than the rest of us living slobs, it would still seem there is learning to be had beyond this life.
  • Assumed Action: In cases where a spirit is deemed “hostile” or “unfriendly” it is important to keep in mind that some of the events taking place, while seemingly hostile, may in fact simply be by pure accident. This is especially true when dealing with beings who have little or no experience with living humans as they may not always even be aware of how we might interpret certain actions.
  • Recording: Many investigators can tell you that the ability to video, photograph or audio record (EVP) beings can be fairly hit and miss and while frustrating, the idea that it is perhaps because it is at times purely accidental that something does get recorded seems to make a lot of sense. This doesn’t mean that a being isn’t trying, it may simply mean that the task is difficult for any number of reasons and may require more patience. There may also be other forms of interference which we have no explanation for…it is after all, the unknown!

As for myself, I am an unfortunate product of having a great many of these beings around me most of the time. I can’t wear a watch because they never keep the time (yes I’ve tried both expensive and…economical…that’s PC right?) I also have very interesting relationships with computers, as my favorite tech guy has often told me, in that I get an entire host of problems neither he nor any of his fellow techies can seem to trace to a cause. Another fun side effect is that I am almost constantly doing battle with static electricity, a thing which has proven to be both obnoxious and in some cases painful. Quite frequently I am treated to visible, miniature lightning bolts that snag my fingers or in a more recent case, my eye!

Though I have learned to live with or try to lessen these effects, they still serve as reminders that I am often surrounded by beings that in some way alter what might be a normal relationship with the electric side of our world. I believe we are only beginning to understand this relationship and may find that in the future it helps to strengthen our connection with them and eliminate some of the barriers that prevent an open line of communication. I am currently working on a project to allow better forms of communication with the paranormal through computer programs that may give them access to tools which can help. That is a story for another time and in the early stages…we’ll see how that goes.

Goodbye for now, another end.
Until a time we meet again.

Paranormal Theories: Halloween for Grown Ups

Halloween Ghost FunHalloween is usually a wonderful time for children. Not only do you get to dress up in a costume and get candy, but you also get to parade around with lots of others kids in what seems like a traveling fair of spooktacular wonder through the night. At the end of the eve you get to count your candy and see what treats you’ve acquired and then perhaps settle in and tell a few scary ghost stories before hitting the hay.

While adults can enjoy decorations and throwing or attending costume parties, for many enthusiasts when the day actually comes it can be difficult to know how to celebrate. There are several avenues to pursue if you’re looking for a way to have fun on Halloween and depending upon your type of enthusiasm you may even create a wonderful tradition with family or friends.

  • Historical Approach: One way to go is to do a little research about Halloween got its start and what people durin that time period may have done to celebrate the day. Reenacting some of the same traditions of times past may bring about a more sophisticated feel to the holiday that the adults can have fun with after the kids are tucked away for the night, or just finished with their own activities. Such traditional methods as lighting large bonfires may not be practical if you don’t have the space, but with so many decorations and tools available these days you can get creative with modernizing the customs of the past.

  • Mystery and Costume Ball: This doesn’t have to be as fancy as it sounds, but together a costume party that includes an event can really get people out of their normal life roles and into the spirit of things. Creating a murder mystery or any other kind of spooky event that your guests can enjoy can be a wonderful way to host a fun, but stimulating Halloween night.

  • Paranormal World: For those who have a mind to seek out real paranormal activity there are a host of things a group, or even just a few people can do to celebrate the holiday especially. I myself have found that Halloween can stir up paranormal activity, not necessarily because those other beings recognize the holiday, but because more people seem to be aware of them during this time of year. Those looking for fun could do anything from hosting a séance or communicating through an ouija board, to trying to get some good EVP recordings in graveyards (mind those time restrictions.) While it is almost impossible to know whether or not there really is a door between worlds open on this day of the year, or if the enthusiasm of the living is simply noticed by other paranormal beings, one can still enjoy the surge of activity that so often takes place on Halloween.

  • Halloween Tours: Many historical sites may offer special tours or events during the Halloween season that can be both enjoyable for those who consider themselves paranormal investigators or those who simply enjoy the idea of soaking up a little history. Whether or not a house is reputed to play host to real haunting the atmosphere may be quite right to have an unusual experience and to participate in a celebratory window into the past. These events are also often quite reasonably priced and the money goes towards keeping the historical sites we treasure in good health.

Consider some of these or your own ideas when trying to figure out how to continue celebrating this wonderful holiday long after the trick-or-treating phase of your life is past. Halloween is a holiday for all ages (even those who are no longer living!) and can be enjoyed by all if you just take the time to figure out how to make your All Hallow’s a very special eve.

Goodbye for now, another end.
Until a time we meet again.

Paranormal Theories: Certain Times of Year: Autumn

Fall HauntingsThe leaves have started to turn and I find myself thinking that once again one of the greatest tools of the paranormal world is available: the season of autumn itself.

Many people have all sorts of different theories, often because of their own experiences with paranormal events, about which time of year or day is the best for rousing up contact with that other world(s).

Personally I find that the fall brings about more activity than any other time of year and not just because Halloween is close by (though certainly that does put one in the mood!)

Over the years I have learned to save intricate conversations in which more in depth communication is necessary for this time of year. I also tend to ask for grander displays from the beings present because so many of them seem to have a larger reserve of energy during this time.

I have asked about why and the answers at the very least are numerous and sometimes very confusing. For one thing, many of the beings I come in contact with do not seem to actually be in our world, so much as connecting to it. It would almost seem that because of this a season would have no effect on their ability to communicate or perform tasks.

Another idea is that our world might in essence “open up” more during this time of year and allow a better flow between living people and those who have passed on, or are simply not and never were a part of our world.

Some beings have even suggested that it has to do more with how living people perceive the time of year. This very idea makes one wonder how much influence our state of mind has when it comes to paranormal experiences and whether or not we have untapped resources that we haven’t even begun the imagine about.

Whatever the reason, I look forward to this time of year and the many experiences that so often come with it. I highly recommend that those looking to have experiences of their own take advantage of the autumn season and the boost in energy it seems to bring. As always, be safe, have fun and keep an open mind.

Goodbye for now, another end.
Until a time we meet again.

Theories: Paranormal Beings Stirred by Music

Music and ParanormalThough the styles may vary greatly, almost every (if not all) culture throughout history has had some fascination with music. Many animals, likewise have a song they will sing, though it may not seem so to us, in order to convey a specific message, or perhaps just because they feel like it.

Is it any wonder then that some haunted locations seem to have triggers like music or that during a paranormal event one might hear it playing though there is nothing to play it?

The relationship that so many living things have with the musical side of life is astounding in its similarity and whether we’re speaking of ghosts or other beings, they too seem to take great interest.

I myself have recorded many events in which singing or music could be heard. In cases of actual ghosts this can sometime be used to pinpoint their origins in life, or at least lead one to believe they might be on the right track.

Though my only real skill (and not much of that) in music lies in playing the piano (not exactly something can often lug around with you) I have gotten in the habit of humming during some of my experiences and I find that this can often initiate a response. In several cases I was actually able to record a being (who I did not always hear with my own ears,) singing along with me or mimicking the notes. This proved to be an excellent ice breaker on many occasions and though a song or instrument isn’t a typical part of a paranormal equipment list, I strongly recommend trying it out the next time you feel something in the air.

For more on the relationship our musical world and paranormal beings share I recommend Rock and Roll Ghost Stories for a great read on the subject and some very interesting tales. This book can be pre-ordered now at Barnes and Noble and was written by a friend of mine who has shared many amazing experiences with me.

Paranormal Theories: Sensing the Paranormal

Writing About the ParanormalRecently a friend of mine, one of the few I share my experiences with, asked me how I know if a house is really haunted.

Now, naturally they asked if I rely on newer paranormal equipment and physical evidence or if I go with my gut. I told him it was a combination of both, but it got me to thinking about what is exactly that changes a situation from considering to certain…or at least as certain as one ever can be about such things.

I did a little digging in my own paranormal research and the notes I have kept over all of these years and I have to say that one of the biggest and most difficult things to dispute is the being’s ability to interact with our physical world.

It isn’t just about a photo, a recording, a temperature drop or other very useful indications that something is certainly out of the ordinary. It is the way they can seem to alter an entire reality, from the way you feel to how you look at things.

Yes I have voices, yells, singing, humming and all sorts of other inexplicable (for the time being) sounds on record.

I also have all sorts of photos that show, again for now, images that could not be accounted for.

Witnesses a plenty and objects that have been literally warped or broken by their encounters with paranormal beings.

All of this helps yes, but it isn’t really how you know, because how you know has something to do with another inexplicable part of our world: the feeling of knowing that you’re not alone.

It isn’t always accurate, or at least it isn’t always something you may have additional evidence to back up, but never the less I believe it is at least in part the root of why so many people seek out any kind of connection with an existence we can’t explain.

The important idea to keep in mind is that using these senses are just as important as any recording device we may carry hoping to snatch physical evidence out of thin air. Trusting one while ignoring the other makes for very poor paranormal hunting indeed in my opinion and in some cases can drive people a little crazy.

An example of this blending might be allowing yourself to take random snapshots just because you feel something might be present. Though you may not be in a location where haunting are known of you may very well still be crossing paths with another being. Making use of these senses is also like practicing with any other skill, over time it becomes more accurate.

I believe that for some people the ability to interact with the paranormal world may come more easily, but I also believe that with practice anyone can learn to use the available tools today and become familiar with that sense that seems to know when you’re just not alone. By combing these two methods I believe we may in time understand more about our relationship with this other world(s) even if we never arrive at any solid conclusions or never quite grasp those answers so many seek.

Goodbye for now, another end.
Until a time we meet again.

Theories: Tools of the Paranormal

Paranormal ToolsI would simply like to take a few moments to discuss the idea of using paranormal equipment while investigating.

Personally, I think all of these devices we have seen come out over the years are fascinating and a wonderful way to record certain events that are much easier to understand using these tools. I myself have become rather addicted to the EVP recordings that capture so much more going on than the normal ear, or even that inner ear that some people have, which in my own experience you always question no matter how long you’ve been accustom to it.

Listening to these recordings can even be a little spooky at times, which is preposterous really! I have actually spoken with a being, heard them speak and been perfectly at ease, recorded the session and then played back the recording a felt spooked! Perhaps it’s something about the way it sounds when being played back, not always identical to what you hear in tone of voice. In any case, it is a great way for those who feel like they may be going a bit mad to give themselves something to drag into good old daylight and I approve.

The pictures of ghosts I have seen and the few I have taken myself are a bit more difficult. So much can be done with photos these days that unless you were actually present you almost never believe what you’re seeing. I still think it’s a great idea however if only for your own experience to snap photos whenever you can.

Other devices that measure temperature, magnetic fields and other fluctuations in the surrounding area can also be quite useful and great deal of fun. Though many don’t feel comfortable with them I also believe that spirits boards and other tools of communication can also be a great way to interact with the paranormal and an excellent way to get more comfortable with the idea in general.

That said, I must give a word of advice about using such items. These things may help greatly when investigating, but they do not offer proof of anything more than that there are events taking place that are currently beyond our capabilities of explaining.

One person may have a snapshot of an orb that others refute while another has a voice recording that appears real enough, but isn’t. Or perhaps it’s all genuine, but no one can agree. Whatever the case may be it is vital that you do not ignore your own instincts and rely too heavily on such items alone. I say this because once you begin heading down that road where you absolutely need evidence and more importantly, answers, you may set something in motion that will disappoint continuously.

I have seen it many times. Those interested in the paranormal begin searching. At first they are delighted by sensing something, but they need to see something solid. They ask for the being to move an object, but once this achieved they need more. Having witnesses to such events seems as though it will be enough, but no, now it must be recorded. Once recorded many need the verification of others, experts in the field let us say, who can give their approval to the events authenticity.

In the end, all you have really achieved is that the standard for proof today has been met. This has not truly confirmed anything more than what we already knew thousands of years ago: paranormal events happen.

Now please understand, I am delighted with the tools of this age and hope to see more advancement in my lifetime. I do believe that such devices can help people communicate and better understand the paranormal world. My only warning is be ready to get comfortable with never being certain, otherwise you may drive yourself mad or at the very least suffer many disappointments. Someday we may yet have enough proof to feel certain about such things and in the mean time such tools are a gift in that they are allowing more and more people to get a glimpse into this side of our existence.  For this I am truly grateful to those who have helped these inventions come to life and hope to see more in the years to come.

Goodbye for now, another end.
Until a time we meet again.

Theories: Do We Ever Scare Them?

Scaring a GhostCommunicating with ghosts isn’t always the easiest thing in the world and getting straight answers at times is truly a task. For some it may be easier, the psychic spiritual adviser for example, who has a constant flow of information, may be able to avoid this frustration. For some of us though, certain questions go unanswered for months, even years simply because no one we come in contact with has the answer.

One such question has been on my mind for years, but seems difficult to answer for those on the other side. I have been fortunate enough to get answers from time to time during some of the paranormal events which have allowed for conversation, but the answers are cryptic and often conflicting.

The question is a simple one that I’m certain has occurred to anyone who has had enough ghost sightings in their life: Do they see us on their side of things like we see them?

Is it possible that living people can, without even being aware of it, trip onto another plane of existence and scare the daylights out of a ghost? Are there ghosts (or other beings) that have groups, T.V. shows and blogs (hehe) dedicated to “human sightings”?

My theory on this, based on all of the answers I’ve received from the beings I have encountered is that we do sometimes drift in and out of one another’s worlds. Not only one or two, but many that may all intersect. It sounds a lot like a great sci-fi novel, but after all of these years the idea has become more and more in keeping with my own experiences because yes, you can get glimpses of other places and I would imagine that when that happens it is more than possible that something on that side of it sees you too.

In general, I have come to the conclusion that this is a subject that many paranormal beings do not feel comfortable discussing. Whether this is because it is difficult, or because they have limitations on how much information they are allowed to share for some reason (see future posts for more info on this development,) I can’t be sure. However as science and the paranormal find their way toward one another I hope that at least we may eventually have more information about how where and even why we might connect with so many other beings and perhaps other dimensions.

Goodbye for now, another end.
Until a time we meet again.

Theories: Why People Ignore the Paranormal

Won't See GhostsIs it a learned talent to see the stranger things in this world that seem quite without explanation? I have at times thought so simply because so many people seem not sense the others around them in any way.

Over time though, I have come to wonder how much of what we sense is simply paying attention and allowing ourselves the freedom to follow through with roads that lead us a little astray of the well worn paths.

It would seem that almost everyone has paranormal stories that they are willing to share in a very noncommittal way; ending the tale with a shrug and a nervous laugh as if to excuse their momentary lapse from reality. These stories are often interesting and have similar components and yet even the people who have experienced them tend to wave them off as flittering events that never really happened.

I have seen this so many times: People who go through something that alters their perspective and gives them a window into the unknown. Perhaps not a definitive answer to the question of do ghosts exist, but certainly something that allows for possibilities. Right after the experience they feel elated, daunted and absolutely certain that they just experienced something extraordinary.

Given time, this feeling fades and eventually they begin to rationalize why what they saw, heard or felt could not have been possible. Over a period of weeks I have watched people I thought for certain would at the very least have walked away from their adventure with an open mind, become completely certain that they somehow imagined an entire event. The fact that others shared their experience, that there may have been recordings to confirm at the very least that it was not hallucination…means nothing. The feeling has faded and with it the desire to hold on.

You can’t blame people for it. A continued relationship with the paranormal can make life difficult and it definitely takes its’ toll on you over time. To pretend that an experience did not take place though, this has always amazed me. I suppose people just feel more comfortable thinking that these things do not happen in real life.

Many people also feel comfortable with varying levels of paranormal experiences. Some feel at ease with the idea of a paranormal psychic who can help others contact their deceased relatives, others prefer to consider that which is difficult to explain as a vague impression that does not truly touch their daily life, but may be close.

So, after watching this and being right in the middle of it my whole life why do I believe people turn away from these events? I have come up with some very basic reasons, easily understandable and also perfectly changeable for those with the inclination:

  • Fear: The unknown scares most people. It could after all be dangerous. Also, many societies teach people to fear what they do not understand, a bad habit the human race has formed over time. To have a healthy respect for the unknown is rational, but to fear it to the point where you can’t even take it in for consideration may be preventing you from experiencing some amazing aspects of life.

Getting control of this is as simple as recognizing why you react the way you do and taking the experience step by step. An example of this might be a scary noise, one that after inspection you feel fairly certain has no explanation that you can find. Naturally this might seem frightening, but after all it is really, at this point, just a noise. Whether it’s a sound coming from a ghost, a creaky floorboard, an alien or stray radio signal it is STILL JUST A NOISE. Until that noise threatens you there really is no reason to be afraid. One step at a time, take in the experience and keep calm.

  • Beliefs: Certain religious groups believe that interacting with the paranormal is wrong, even evil. Why this came about and why people still follow this line of thinking today can be difficult to understand. Could the voices of those who can see beyond what our own world shows us give those in power something to fear? Is it that they are concerned that there may be false explanations or ones that are true, but do not support some of their teachings? To take someone or something at their word requires trust and this is just as true for paranormal beings as any human. It concerns me that this might be all about control, a poor way to help people feel closer to their gods by eliminating any outside ideas. I can’t see a god who wants the truth hidden, or for that matter a flock that can’t think for itself. I guess I just believe in stronger deities than that, maybe I’m silly.
  • Time: The most common reason I have come in contact with for those who wave off the paranormal is that they simply have too much to do. Dipping into the worlds that exist beside our own takes time and energy and often removes focus from your life here. Many people may have an interest, but simply feel that entire subject is just too daunting and requires attention and focus that they can’t spare. It is a reasonable reaction; after all, we are here to live this life. I do often see that those who feel this way regret that they cannot make time to explore the paranormal and I have often advised that even if only once a year they might take just a day to explore some possibilities so that they do not feel that they are always missing out.

Obviously there are billions of people in the world and many of them may have more specific reasons for not wanting to invest themselves in something that can be both frustrating and difficult to understand. In the end, we are responsible for shaping our lives and to those who would turn away I can only hope that they do it knowing that it is the best path for them and I wish them well.

As for me, well, I have had moments when I have wondered if my life might not be better or at least less stressful if not for these experiences. But for all that it has cost me, I have gained more. Perhaps even more than I will ever understand as a living person, who can say…yet?

Goodbye for now, another end.
Until a time we meet again.
